ROSE'S ROSE
Oil on Canvas, 12" x 16" (unframed)
Frame: 4" Wood

Rose's Rose was painted based on a picture taken by Rose Ruelos of a rose in her backyard, thus the name. Rendered in faithful Realism as a way to convey the minute and subtle changes and variations in colors, shades and form that I find essential to portray the singular beauty of this rose (although some of it are lost in transition from painting to photograph). Is there any other flower with such exquisite lines as the rose? Is there any other flower that can appear to have light emanating from its core and then burst into glorious crimsons like the sun? Is there any other flower that has inspired oodles of odes, some very old, some very good and some not so... oops, I'm doing it.
